I.                   Introduction of New Project:

Individual members may choose to submit images to be considered for publishing in a Lake/Sumter Coffee Table Book. The Project is being directed by Russ Sloan of Lake Sumter Community College. Russ has been successful in publishing similar Books for two other communities, one of which was St. Petersburg. Both of those projects resulted in exceptional quality “Coffee Table” books that were extremely well received in their respective communities. It is his plan to utilize the talents of local photographers to provide the many images that will be necessary, as he did previously, and with great success.
Photographers whose image(s) are chosen to be published will not receive monetary compensation, however they will receive:

1) Recognition and credit for their image(s),
2) A free copy of the book (an approximate $35.00 value), and
3) Availability of additional books for purchase, at cost, (approximately $13.00) to give as gifts to friends and family.

II.                Role of Coordinator/Liaison:

During a conversation between Russ and myself, in regard to images for the Book, I offered to act as a liaison between Russ, his Project Designer and the IFPC with Board approval. To hopefully help things progress smoothly my responsibilities, with Marlene as an assistant (she is much more knowledgeable regarding the computer than I,) will be to:

1) Communicate information regarding the Project to the members in a timely fashion,
2) Receive images from members,
3) Prepare the images in a specific format, as per instructions, and copy to a disc (this is actually Marlene’s area of expertise,)
4) Type up the accompanying information that will correspond to images on the disc, and
5) Forward all the information on to the Designer.

III.             Communication:

We will attempt to keep the membership informed as to the status of the Project as it moves toward its completion date (the book goes to print in August of 2009) by:

1) Brief updates at IFPC meetings,
2) The web site, and
3) Periodic reminders regarding issues of a timely nature through our Communications Chair, Linda.

IV.              The Tentative Plan:

1) Provide the members with a breakdown of the Chapter Headings for the book. (See below)
2) Russ will provide Marlene and me with a copy of the St. Petersburg book, which we will study in order to produce lists of suggested places/things/activities in Lake and Sumter Counties that correspond to the chapter headings. Suggestions are welcome.
3) You may submit images you have already taken or go out on some photo shoots. There is no limit on the number of images you can submit, however, you may want to the follow “Criteria Judges Follow in a Good Photograph” which will be handed out and discussed at next month’s meeting. There will not be a panel of judges choosing which images will be submitted for consideration by Russ and his staff. All images turned in to Marlene and me will be forwarded on.
